Grooovy, man

+my poetry+

I definitely do not consider myself a poet. Not really. But I do love to write, and during my college years, I had many poetry-related classes so I had a lot of poetry-writing assignments. While I think most of them were poor attempts on my part (like I said, not really a poet), there were those few that I liked for some reason or other. I dug them up (along with my old college-era lava lamp, ha), and here they are. Please don't throw tomatoes at me... *wink*

Hello, My Name Is...
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

My name used to be
Shade
Roomfuls of strange hands
Pale naked show.
Secretly, I knew my name was
Blackberry, sweet
With honeyed drips of money tips
Coin in hand,
Tear-stained lips
My real name was
Shame.
In my dream my name was
A halo
A smooth surface
Reflecting netted clouds.
Inside my name spin
Flowers and incense,
Luminescent Medusa,
Tomato-red moon.
My real name is
Velvet,
Smoky soft,
Cashmere soft
Amethyst,
Plush and crushed,
Quiet and
Still.

Moon Verse
- - - - - - - - - - -

Translucent Luna,
Cosmic dust
Heavenly philter,
Solemn and hushed.

Queen of Heaven,
Orb of night...
Galaxies exquisite,
Celestial light.

White-fire orbit,
Diana, iridescent...
Tranquil Nebulae,
Silver-hanging crescent.

Ode To A Psycho-Bitch
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Once, a sister,
Compromised
She turned my secrets
Into swords.
Garlands of malice hung
From her eyes,
Barbed and pointed
Were her words.
Venomous like spiders
In a jar,
Abusing friendship's
Sacred trust.
Heart stone-cold with
Intent to scar,
Until her competition
Was crushed.

Love Poem #2
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Candles, my Love,
Burn them bright.
The darkness bows
To us tonight.
See the changing,
Second-sight.
Kisses come next,
Breathless... tight.

Glowing flames
Dot absent light.
I trade the day
For you, tonight.
Electric touches,
Teasing fight.
Wicked flames
Stretch eternal bright,
Shadowed spell,
Enchanted night.
My Love cries out,
Blackbirds take flight.

My Lady Dark
- - - - - - - - - - - - -

My lady dark is sweet with sin,
She glows with a fever of sublime heat
At the fervent nexus deep within,
Where her exquisite soul and spirit meet.

Petalsoft her alabaster skin,
If cold snow is pale, then ice is she;
Her hair, flowing tresses of black wherein
Jet gleams moonlight on midnight sea.

Eyes ablaze with precious jewel-shine,
They bewitch with warm and magic grace.
Her sensual lips as red as sweet wine
Conjure wistful dreams of a Goddess's embrace.

Yet no impassioned dreaming can ever eclipse
The reality of a candied kiss from her own divine lips.

Little Death
- - - - - - - - - - -

The power of woman:
To suck
Your very life
From the tip of that
Which you hold dear
And to smile, sweetly
At the coming
Of your little death.

Love Poem #1
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Come take my hand,
This is me, breathing
Chasing the rain,
And all that I'm feeling
Removing the mask,
To reveal the seething
Unveiling for you,
Believe what you're seeing

You are a key,
Unlock my unfolding
You touch my face
As we begin kissing
Inside of me,
Your music is singing
Your name on my tongue
Has the deepness of praying
Come, take my hand,
It is time for believing

notes on the poems
(for the fellow poetry-nerds out there)

Hello, My Name Is... ...this is prolly my favorite poem I've ever written, even though it doesn't exactly rhyme (or make sense to most people); I like it, and I like the hidden personal meanings in it

Moon Verse
...I just really looove the moon, so I wrote a little poemy-poem-poem for it (well, I couldn't marry it...... *sticks tongue out*)

Ode To A Psycho-Bitch
...this is obviously about an ex-friend (someone who dealt me a shitty betrayal during my college years)... call it anti-Hallmark-passive-aggressive-revenge-by-poetry

Love Poem #2
...this is what I fantasize about when I think HOT DATE, oooh la la...heh heh (and I do dig the sexy chant-like rhythm of it)

My Lady Dark
...wrote this one for a girl that I really cared about, but sadly I don't believe she ever felt the same toward me... alas, such is life eh?

Little Death
...
if you don't know what 'the little death' is slang for (hint:French), look it up and then this poem will make sense... *lascivious grin*

Love Poem #1
...playing around with the 'lyrical', chant-like aspects of poetry again, romance-stylee... these kinds of poems are fun (and kinda easy) to come up with
